Therapeutic exercise refers to a wide range of physical activities that focus on restoring and maintaining strength, endurance, flexibility, stability and balance. The goal of therapeutic exercise is to help you return to a fully functional, pain-free state.
We begin by conducting a thorough evaluation of your physical capabilities through both a medical history and physical assessment.
As trained, licensed professionals, we then create a treatment care plan that includes a progressive exercise program appropriate to your needs.
We work closely with you to monitor progress, assist with some physical movements and continuously modify the plan as you recover and regain your strength and mobility.
Blood Flow Restriction Training
Blood Flow Restriction Training is a new and emerging type of training that helps with muscle strength and growth. It has been shown to be safe and effective among patients after surgery, patients who have arthritis and the elderly.
An external cuff (like a blood pressure cuff) is applied to your extremity and inflated. You then perform a strengthening exercise using very light resistance. The cuff limits blood flow to the extremity, which creates increased stress to the muscle. This allows you to build strength with less resistance normally required to build muscle and with less stress on your joints.
Sports rehabilitation addresses the recovery of a sports-related injury with specific attention to the mechanics and forces your sport requires.
When treating athletes, we work with you to not only return you to your sport and perform at an equal level (prior to injury), we also seek to help you optimize your performance while actively providing strength and conditioning that prevents injuries.
Common exercises include strength training, plyometrics, agility and speed work and sport related movements.
Our Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialists (CSCS), Athletic Trainers (ATC) and Physical Therapists (PT) specialize in sport rehabilitation and provide tailored programs to support you, your sport and your unique goals.
